Even in the best world, must the human heart still be revealed?

We naturally attribute human problems entirely to environment. Poverty, violence, injustice, trauma, and corrupt systems truly oppress people and must be repaired; using ‘the sinful heart’ to ignore external injustice wounds sufferers again. Yet the opposite claim is also incomplete: even the best environment cannot automatically choose love for a free life.

Revelation 20 depicts Satan restrained, Christ and the overcomers reigning, and then Satan released to deceive the nations. The text does not become a complete philosophical explanation; it simply says he ‘must’ be released for a short time. Readers therefore differ about the completion of God’s plan, the disclosure of final judgment, and the choices of generations born during the Millennium.

Xiaoyang reads it as a final disclosure between an outward Eden and inward maturity. Good millennial government reduces lies, oppression, and disorder but does not reformat personality. People may enjoy the benefits of Jesus’ rule without truly loving him; when Satan appears, their hidden direction becomes public. This is a model, not the text’s direct explanation.

Sukkot remembers that home is more than a structure that protects us. Israel had cloud, fire, manna, and water and still had to trust daily. A person can live within God’s provision while longing for Egypt, or dwell in a fragile booth and still make YHWH one’s habitation.

Loyalty therefore does not mean never facing another option. If there is only one road and no cost, our direction may remain hidden. Testing does not mean God lacks knowledge; it lets a life become visible through time and choice. Nor does this mean every pain is a test deliberately arranged by God; Scripture also commands resistance to evil, healing, and the reduction of injustice.

Maturity is not ‘becoming unable to sin.’ Xiaoyang uses the living creatures and overcomers to describe freedom retained yet stabilized by deep knowledge of God: not locked in from outside, but no longer wishing to depart. True loyalty sees the door and still chooses to remain.

We do not need to wait for the Millennium’s end to see our direction. How we use freedom in calm seasons is already forming life: do we pray without crisis, tell truth without supervision, protect the weak when we hold power, and remember the giver when blessed?

The final testing should therefore not make us obsessed with predicting who will fail, but should teach us to practice uncoerced loyalty now. God does not need us to manufacture temptation for others or justify injury as spiritual training. He calls us to answer honestly within the choices we already have and to keep a path of repentance and restoration open for those who fall.

Let the sukkah become a gentle mirror: do I love God, or only the comfort he maintains for me? Name one blessing and distinguish it from God himself. Give thanks without making the gift your only reason to stay. Home is knowing with whom you still wish to dwell when another voice is heard.
