Five dangers in misusing God’s name
Calling our words God’s words
‘God told me’ can shut down discernment and give unquestionable authority to feelings, plans or positions.
Building ourselves with the Lord’s name
Preaching, fundraising, ministry or gatherings can turn the holy name into a tool for ambition.
Substituting wonders for truth
Apparently spiritual works do not prove that a message comes from God or that the worker belongs to Christ.
Substituting a religious label for being known by Christ
Calling oneself Christian or church cannot replace repentance, obedience and the Spirit’s fruit.
Hiding bad fruit behind pious words
The most dangerous lies can wear religious clothing; ask whether they exalt Christ, keep truth and form holiness.

Spiritual works prove someone belongs to Christ
Jesus warns that some act in his name while he still says, ‘I never knew you.’
Test words, fruit and motive together
Ask whether it agrees with Scripture, exalts Christ, bears the Spirit’s fruit and submits to truth.
Testing the claim ‘God told me’
People not sent by God may still run and prophesy, even covering real wounds with easy promises of peace.
Speaking and acting in the Lord’s name does not equal being known by him; doing the Father’s will matters.
Claiming fellowship while walking in darkness is false; test everything and hold fast to what is good.
